Cholecystectomy (gallbladder surgery)
A cholecystectomy is a surgical procedure to remove the gallbladder, a small pear-shaped organ that sits under the liver. It collects and stores bile, a digestive fluid produced in the liver. Your doctor may require gallbladder removal if gallstones cause severe pain and other complications.
Why You Might Need a Cholecystectomy?
Gallbladder surgery is required if you have:
- Inflamed gallbladder
- Pancreas inflammation caused by gallstones
- Gallstones in the gallbladder
- Gallstones in the bile duct
Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy
A laparascopic cholecystectomy is a technique that uses four small incisions in your abdomen to remove your gallbladder. A laparascope, a narrow tube with a camera is inserted into your abdomen through one of the incisions to allow your surgeon to see your gallbladder on a screen. Then your surgeon will remove your gallbladder through another incision. Patients go home the same day as their surgery. This minimally-invasive procedure allows the patient to recover quicker and have less scarring after the surgery.

There are two types of hemorrhoids:
- Internal: hemorrhoids form in the lower rectum
